The Pā, the landmark building is the heart of the University's Hamilton campus. Its development reflects the University's commitment to an integrated and accessible campus that includes social interaction, hospitality and culture.


The Pā is a centre for students, staff and the wider community, strengthening our ability to engage with and deliver community events and activities.

When you arrive, your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date, and if required, have a valid New Zealand visa.

Visitors from visa-waiver countries must request an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) prior to coming to New Zealand. You may also have to pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL). For more information on the ETA and IVL, visit Immigration New Zealand. APPLY EARLY! Applications can take up to 35 business days.

The University of Waikato in Hamilton is located approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from Auckland International/Domestic Airport or approx 20 -25 minutes from Hamilton Airport to Waikato University. Please note there are no direct flights from Auckland to Hamilton.
